Therapy
Types of Therapy
Consultation
A free 15 to 20 minutes phone call focused on addressing initial questions and concerns you may have about therapy. We can also briefly discuss treatment goals and how it may align with my practice. I understand the importance of therapist-client matching and believe this conversation can help with that.
Individual Therapy
I am trained in many evidence-based short term treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate psychodynamic theories into my conceptualization and treatment. I personally practice mindfulness and value its benefits in mental health. Hence, I incorporate mindfulness into my practice.
I will likely use a combination of these approaches to conceptualize and practice. It is an integrative approach that foremost focused on the clients' goals and needs. Individual therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on the presenting concerns and treatment goals. Sessions are 45 minutes and can occur weekly, bi-weekly, or in other frequencies depending on availability and treatment needs.
Therapy will always be a safe, supportive space. It will be open and transparent so that you can observe your progress and know the next steps.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is for couples/partnerships that wish to have a safe space to process and explore their relationship concerns. The goal of couples therapy is to help you improve together. There may be times where I meet with you as a couple and also individually. Couples sessions are 50 minutes and can occur weekly, bi-weekly, or as arranged.
My couples therapy approach is grounded in Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman method. It will focus on emphasizing emotions, uncovering underlying conflicts, increasing effective communication in building relationship health.
